Google maps is the king of the Internet maps. But, to use it, you need to be online, which is not a problem most of time, but what if you are going to another country, and you have to pay a lot to get online? There is a very easy way to use Google Maps without being online, and you will be surprised to know how easy it is.

Basically, all that you have to do is to download Google Maps data, and use an app to display it on your iPhone. To download Google maps data, you need Mobile Atlas Creator. Unfortunately, the latest version does not support Google maps, but if you replace map sources with the same folder from an older version like Mobile Atlas Creator 1.9 beta 1.zip , you should be able to download Google Maps data without problem. It works on Mac, too. You just need to open Mobile_Atlas_Creator.jar with Jar Launcher. By the way, you need to download sqlitejdbc-v056.jar file and place it in the Mobile Atlas Creator folder(you need it to save the atlas file in SQLite format).

You need to choose atlas format RMaps SQLite, and then select the area you want to download, and choose the zoom levels you want, then click on Add selection. Then you can click on Create atlas.
Now, after the downloading is finishe, you need to install Galileo Offline Maps and buy in-app purchase Import maps from PC($1.99). Then you can copy the atlas file to your iPhone using iTunes(Click on your iPhone in iTunes, choose Apps tap, then on the bottom, you will see the list of apps that you can move your files into. Choose Galieo, then move the map file by drag and drop.

Now, you can use Google Maps on your iPhone, and the search function and GPS location function work, too. So, next time you go to another country, make sure you download the maps data, then you don’t have to pay the roaming fee to find your way.
