The best fast reading software for a mac is…
In my earlier post, I mentioned iReadFast, a simple but powerful fast reading software based on RSVP(Rapid Serial Visual Presentation). Basically, it flashes one word at a time rapidly. This way of display helps you to read more efficiently, because you do not waste time on moving your eyes back and forth.
But, I found a better free program that does the same thing. It is eReader Pro, which is a free ebook reader program for ereader.com ebooks. On Navigation menu, you can turn RSVP on, choose setting, then start RSVP. It then shows one word at a time on top of the page, and displays the entire text of the page below.
eReader Pro is better than iReadFast in that it handles ebook files, whereas iReadFast can only display what is pasted from clipboard. In fact, iReadFast is useful when you want to read a long article from the Internet. You just select the text, copy it, and paste it on iReadFast. But, if you want to read a book like that, it becomes very awkward, because it cannot handle any file. With eReader Pro, however, you can make a ebook file out of the text file first using a free program DropBook, open the file from ereader, then start speed reading it. If you stop reading it, and reopen it later, the program will open the page you left reading last time. Besides, if you have a lot of ebooks purchased from ereader.com, you can speed read them quite easily.
Now, I found a reason to prefer ereader.com ebooks to Kindle ebooks.

There are many desktop apps that do this. Check here for a comparison:

Dictator and Mindfire are probably the best.
There are also many iPhone apps of the same nature cropping up, but none of them are very usable yet.
