“No Logitech Device Found” error in Logitech Control Center

I used to use a wireless Mighty Mouse, but I was not satisfied with the lack of configuration. For example, I wanted to use the scroll ball as a “go back” button, but for that, I had to buy SteerMouse ($20), which has more configuration options. SteerMouse is okay, but I am in a scrimping mode nowadays (who isn’t?). So, when the demo version of SteerMouse was expired, I decided to switch to my old Logitech MX500.

Logitech provides their own program for configuration, Logitech Control Center. With this program, you can assign keystrokes to each button, and set the tracking speed of the mouse (I found the default speed too slow).

But, when I installed the program, and opened it, it said, “No Logitech Device Found” Hmm… I reconnected the mouse, but still no device was detected.

After spending some time on googling, I realized that the SteerMouse was still hogging the mouse. So, I open the SteerMouse application in the Applications folder (I’ve already deleted the SteerMouse panel), and chose “remove SteerMouse” It solved the problem.

Now I am a happy MX500 user ;)
